No More Calorie Counting!
The 21 Day Fix “portion control program” utilizes different colour-coded containers. For example, after determining your specific calorie range with a simple formula, your calorie target is broken down into specific proteins, carbs and fats portions. Proteins will fall into the ‘red’ containers, carbs into the ‘yellow’ containers, vegetables into the ‘green’ containers… you get the idea.
Depending on your overall calorie range and goals, you will get more or less of a given food group (we call these macronutrients – aka, proteins, carbs or fats).
For example, under ‘Carbohydrates’, you are given a huge list of all the carbohydrates that are 21 Day Fix ‘Approved’, such as sweet potato, quinoa, yams and so forth. The same applies for proteins, vegetables and healthy fats.
While this system is simple, especially if you cook up large batches of lean protein and grains (which is how I eat), it does leave a little to be desired in terms of variety.

For those looking for simplicity, simply cook up big pot of sweet potato, bake four or five chicken breasts, have some chopped vegetables on-hand and then you just fill your containers and go.
