In short, Mel has an energetic, practical, nonsense and relatable approach to simple-but-powerful mental and behavioural hacks that serve to empower us to be pilots in our lives, versus passengers.

The One You Feed Podcast is a favourite of mine. The show host, Eric Zimmer, is both humble and insightful, and has a cool and calm presence about him that is as comfortable as it is familiar. While I’ve never met the man, he just seems like the kind of guy you’d want to have a Cup O’Joe with and chat. (Eric, that’s an invite if you’re ever north of the border.)

Eric kicks off each podcast with the parable of the two wolves.

A grandfather is talking with his grandson and he says there are two wolves inside of us which are always at war with each other. 

One of them is a good wolf which represents things like kindness, bravery and love. The other is a bad wolf, which represents things like greed, hatred and fear.

The grandson stops and thinks about it for a second then he looks up at his grandfather and says, “Grandfather, which one wins?”

The grandfather quietly replies, the one you feed.

In this podcast, Eric interviews Mark Nepo, cancer survivor, author and poet whose prose is rich with wisdom and draws brilliant parallels between the natural world and our own lives.
